It’s All About The Content, Baby! Part Two

Continued from Part One, posted september 10, 2010

We want to stay in contact with our network on a regular basis and we want to remind them that we’re still in the business and successful and are the expert or authority on Real Estate in their network. We can achieve this by sending them relevant information on a regular basis that’s of value to them and that subtly leverages us as the expert in the process.

As real estate sales professionals, we have a tendency to think that real estate information is the only thing that we can post to our networks. The problem with only posting real estate sales information, stats, listings, real estate news etc. is, it’s not always relevant to everyone in our network. At any given time, only a small percentage of your network will be interested in this information. That doesn’t mean that agents shouldn’t post this kind of content, it just means that it shouldn’t be the only content that they post. Remember, a more subtle approach works better on online social networks.

Think of yourself as your network’s trusted advisor on all things real estate. Think of things that are more subtly related to our industry but are more relevant to your network as a whole. Things like home improvement and maintenance tips, landscaping and gardening, interior design, energy efficiency, community events etc. This type of information works great and is a lot more relevant to your entire network. Provide content that helps your network by providing them with information that they could really use but probably don’t have the time to search for themselves.

I’ve put together a list of content ideas, content sources and articles on ideas for content for real estate sales professionals from across the web. This content can be used for both sending information to your social networks as well as ideas for real estate blog post topics. This is by no means a complete list but it should serve well to expand your current list of content ideas and to get your creative juices flowing to come up with many more. Your favorite search engine, RSS feeds and twitter, can also be the source of a massive amount of content now that you know what you’re looking for.
