Zillow, QR Codes Revisited, Microsoft's Cloud and Google Tools for Real Estate Agents

Zillow

Last week’s post contained information regarding registering and claiming your listings on Trulia. It also included links to both the free and the paid options available to help you make the most of Trulia.com. I thought that I should follow up with the same information regarding Zillow.

Trulia and Zillow have quite quickly become very important players in the online real estate listings search game. I would now include them in my list of “must haves” for our sales associates. The main sites that agents should now be associated with, at least on an agent profile basis are; your individual MLS, RealEstateOne, MaxBroock or JohnstoneandJohnstone.com, Realtor.com, Zillow and Trulia. Of course there are many, many more sites out there but these would definitely have to be the top 5 most important.

QR Codes Revisited

Some of you may remember a blog post that I did quite a while back introducing the QR code. It’s those weird black square things located above. A QR Code is a matrix barcode (or two-dimensional code), readable by QR scanners, mobiles phones with camera, and smartphones. The code consists of black modules arranged in a square pattern on white background. The information encoded can be text, URL or other data. (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

QR readers are available for smart phones that have built in cameras and all the user has to do is launch the QR reader app and point their camera at the code and they will be instantly taken to the web site that the code is linked to.

There are also free QR generators available all over the web that allows anyone to create a QR code for any web site address (URL), text number, phone number or SMS number. Just search the term QR Generator on any search engine and you will find a multitude of sites that allow you to create your own QR codes. http://qrcode.kaywa.com/ The generators create the code as an image file, like a .jpg, .bmp or .png. Just right click on the code that’s generated and choose Save Picture As. You can then save it and add it to any document or web site or flyer that you want. The code on the left above is a direct and instant link to RealEstateOne.com and the one on the right is a direct link to an agent’s personal WebOne site. These codes are awesome and are quickly becoming popular both on and offline. Agents can add them to their websites, flyers, emails, blog sites etc. They can even be printed on T-shirts.
